Do you have a paid staff?
Yes. We have three employees who serve in part-time capacities to administer the JMH Foundation programs and services. Jane Blessing, our executive director, has many years experience in healthcare and non-profit.
She also is executive director of Partnership for a Healthier Johnson County. Kate Taylor, Foundation program coordinator, also is physician liaison with Johnson Memorial Hospital. And Beth Ross, communications coordinator with the Foundation, is xxx with JMH. View more
What are your primary programs?
Our support for the hospital and community is diversified. We fund scholarships for people seeking careers in the healthcare field or JMH employees who are advancing their studies. We support community initiatives such as Partnership for a Healthier Johnson County. And assist with direct patient services such as the St. Thomas Clinic for uninsured patients and Pooh Bears for Molly that celebrate births and comfort the sick. We are setting up a grant program initiative for future support of the hospital and community.View more
How do you raise your funds for scholarships and healthcare initiatives?
We depend solely on the generous support of our donors and Johnson Memorial Hospital's Board of Trustees. We are blessed to receive gifts from community members, former patients, families of patients, JMH staff and board members. We also host three key fundraising activities -- the JMH FoundationGolf Outing, the Loving Lights Tree Celebration and the Memorial Brick Program. Other fundraising efforts are being planned.
How many serve on your board of directors and what are their backgrounds?
We have a committed board consisting of leaders in the healthcare, law, business and financial industries. The board includes physicians and administrators from JMH and representatives from the Johnson County, Indiana community. Our board members also have extensive non-profit board experience. View more
How does the board of directors function?
The Board of Directors operate with a set of bylaws and host an annual meeting, as well as regular meetings almost monthly throughout the year. John Auld Jr. serves as Foundation, with Dr. David Dunkle serving as vice president. Larry Heydon, JMH president and CEO, is the treasurer. View more
What are the long-range goals of the JMH Foundation?
Our board began a long-range strategic plan initiative in 2009 and continues to develop goals that include expanding fundraising efforts, marketing the Foundation, securing more community partnerships and working with Johnson Memorial Hospital's leadership team on their future growth.
